About the Festival

Sing Mit is an international festival of choirs from different countries, bound by the love of singing sacred music in a stunning acoustic and beautiful sanctuary. Enjoy the fellowship of singers from around the globe, rehearsals with world-renowned musical directors, and a delightful opening reception on the rooftop of the famed St. Stephen's Cathedral with a 360 view overlooking all of Vienna or the stunning Residenzplatz in Salzburg. Each festival date includes a 3-day workshop, culminating with your ensemble performing alongside other choral music enthusiasts and in Salzburg, a chance to participate in the Sunday morning mass.



2022 Details

F. Mendelssohn, Elijah – sung in English (view sample itinerary)

St. Stephen's Cathedral | July 7-9, 2022

In a sing-along concert in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, you can sing F. Mendelssohn's Elijah, 175 years after the anniversary of his death. Mendelssohn's Elijah is still one of the most popular examples of sacred music.

Under the direction of Prof. Gerald Wirth, Artistic Director and President of the Vienna Boys' Choir, you will study Mendelssohn's Elijah in workshops over several days. As a grand finale, you perform the work in St. Stephen's Cathedral as a sing-along concert with many other singers from all over the world, the Vienna Cathedral Orchestra, and well-known soloists.

Schedule

Thursday, July 7th, 2022:  Workshop in the afternoon. In the evening there will be a welcome reception on the roof of St. Stephen's Cathedral.

Friday, July 8th, 2022:  Workshops in the morning and afternoon.

Saturday, July 9th, 2022: Dress rehearsal in the morning. In the evening there will be solemn concert in St. Stephen's Cathedral, followed by Agape.

F. Schubert, Mass in E-flat major

St. Stephen's Cathedral | July 14-16, 2022

On the 225th birthday of Shubert, perform his Mass in E-flat major in a sing-along concert in St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna.

Under the direction of Prof. Gerald Wirth, President and Artistic Director of the Vienna Boys' Choir, you will work on the piece over several days in workshops. Together with well-known soloists and the Vienna Cathedral Orchestra you will perform Mass in E-flat major at the end as part of the Sing Mit! Festival choirs in a solemn concert in St. Stephen's Cathedral.

Friday, July 15, 2022:  Workshops in the morning and afternoon.

Saturday, July 16, 2022: In the evening, a solemn concert in St. Stephen's Cathedral followed by an agape; dress rehearsal in the morning.

WA Coronation Mass (KV 317) & Organ Solo Mass (KV 259)

Salzburg Cathedral | August 25-28, 2022

Perform Mozart's WA Coronation Mass in a sing-along concert in Salzburg Cathedral, as Mozart and Salzburg are inextricably linked. Mozart was born and raised here, the house where he was born and where he lived, invite you to visit, and you come across his tracks on every corner. The baptismal font in which Mozart was baptized is still in use today in Salzburg Cathedral.

Under the direction of Domkapellmeister (Choir Master) Prof. János Czifra, you will study Mozart's Coronation Mass and Organ Solo Mass with your international fellow singers in workshops in German and English. The highlight of the Saturday festival choir is the performance in Salzburg Cathedral as a sing-along concert with the Salzburg Cathedral Music Orchestra and well-known soloists, and on Sunday the high mass in the cathedral from the organ loft.
